Also, as far as I'm concerned, saying "oh no our software won't work on a laptop, not even in some kind of ratty reduced-quality / feature set mode" is tantamount to saying "we can't be bothered doing the minor bit of tweaking that would be necessary to support either a software-only or Intel-compatible mode, on top of everything else we've done, even though that freezes out a huge potential user base".
It's not like it's a game that demands a certain amount of FPS to be playable. So long as the machine can execute the necessary instruction loops and my HDD has enough space for both all the meshes and textures plus the necessary swap space, why can't I choose to let it run for many hours (or days, if I work up to a complicated scene) in lieu of blowing money I don't have (else, you know, I would maybe have not gone for a free software package?) on hardware I might rapidly find I don't really need and is hugely over-spec for anything else I would use the machine for?
Feels awfully like Mac mentality infiltrating the previously much more exact-hardware- (and CPU-speed-)agnostic PC userbase.
So, again, is it literally the somewhat unbelievable case that there isn't any software out there at all that will run on a reasonably modern mobile x86 platform with a typical GUI (...of the type that's been sort of familiar since Cyberstudio way back on the Atari ST), or IS there actually some kind of alternative to what I've tried so far (IE current versions of DAZ, SFM, Blender) that will successfully make it to the end of setting up a scene in a simplistic software- or Intel-compatible-hardware-rendered view then rendering it (however long that takes) using the same resources just more intensively? I mean ... shit... I've done POVray renders on an entirely unaccelerated 486 before that were notionally more complex than what's caused DAZ to throw its toys out of the pram on this machine, so I'm not exactly inclined to immediately suspect the hardware of being at fault.
Just to re-emphasise the point: I'm NOT at all interested in ANY kind of additional hardware at this point, unless perhaps it can connect via USB3 or the docking station connector (or fit in the same Expresscard54 slot as my USB3 adaptor) and costs, say, no more than $50, preferably under $25. I want the question I'm asking answered, not the one you think I should be asking. Alternative options can be considered once that's dealt with.
