Animations are almost worth it, because you are right - SFM does render in almost real time.

Though for me, personally, I've made a conscious decision to not do animations.

From my personal point of view - I don't successfully portray the pain, dismay and confusion the girls are experiencing when doing animations.
It is very hard and time consuming to really play out those emotions in real time, compared to the time it takes to convey them through text.
I feel that getting the result I want out of animation takes MUCH longer than using still images and text.

Secondly, SFM uses the Source engine - a videogame engine. Because of this any kind of "blood" is videogame blood.
It is not realistic looking, on purpose, and it created by a physics based particle engine.

Getting the blood do go in the right direction, in the right amounts and at the right time is just waaaay too time consuming.
I find that adding the blood in post-rendering, even though its in every image, is still more efficient and correctly conveys what I want the blood to do.

But I did try!

Those were successful attempts, but they took hours longer than a comic would, even with all the post-processing. When I do videos I usually want to do sound as well, and that just makes the process harder.

In the end there is a medium ground I'd like to try one day.
And that is where I make a comic in the usual fashion, but also have a small animated GIF of the moment of stabbing, or ripping, or harming the girl's pussy occurs.
Only a small like 3 - 5 second animation, but it could add a lot to a static comic.
I kind of want to do that with my Catgirl Massacre comic coming up, but we'll see ;)

Great question overall, hope I shed some light on my own goals and processes.
