Probably you just need some good expression package and I would recommend Aiko expressions

Maybe harder to find it to download so if you will need it I will help
which allows you to do amputations with only problem that you need to apply your own textures to the stumps or else they vill be white

finally you need to give more attention to angles and poses, because when you change camera position facial expression also changes considerably
