You are right, it's probably a good idea not to start another really long story while the CDL story is still ongoing. As a different idea for such a setting, how about a snuff movie setting? That way you could also have very short execution stories if you want to, it gives you a realistic reason to be very flexible with your execution methods and it's still easily possible to expand a story if you want to.

So i guess one reason why the CDL story is progressing relatively slowly right now is because you need to figure out what's going to happen next. As a next step when the current scene is over, i expect the other two guys each to get their turn with the girls, maybe with all of them at once or maybe you want to separate them again. I think both guys are fixated on Carla, but they can't have her both at the same time - maybe one of them could get Carla and Darla, while the other guy has to take Laura and is angry he doesn't get his favorite girl, so he gets especially cruel with her. That could end with some eye gouging and more broken bones, i think it's late enough in the story to do that much damage, they don't have to last for much longer.
As for torture methods for the other girls: I think you could play some more with heat. You could use a hot poker like you did once on Darla and a lot in the Amelia story, you could also heat up many other tools for more pain. And you could just place some hot coals in the right position to slowly heat up a girl or some of her parts over time instead of all at once, maybe place one girl over hot coals and show how the heat gets worse and worse for her, while you torture the other girl in other ways. And for some real damage, how about pouring some boiling water into one of their many openings?

I hope that gave you some ideas, if not for the CDL story some of it could still work in other stories.
