I have to agree with some of the negative posts here. It's all in how you present it. Its like:
Guy: surprise I'm a new artist.
Everyone: cool
Guy: here's some stuff
Everyone: I like it.
Guy: to see the rest pay up
Everyone: WTF. thanks for torpedoing any chance you had at anyone paying money.

Basically you don't ask for money until you build up your cred. That's the way it works. None of this freemium BS.
