It can also be different characters, but using same ones kinda makes an illusion that they are immortal even if those are unrelated stories like in your stories where they die over and over ;)
Another reason is that creating new characters for every story is a bit some of the extra work. So maybe I will limit differences to changing their hair. It may be the same boy and different girls as well. or twin girls since twins render like one character in terms of resources.
In the end, someone probably has to survive or else there is nobody to observe the death. ;)

In my opinion, it is also funnier if characters do not explicitly declare their desire to kill themselves, but find some other way to justify it.



By the way, some time ago when I was into roleplay, I met one girl who was into things like that where she was into killing herself various ways :)
