the process is pretty simple
Yes, I use stock elements most of the time and then assemble character I want. Later it can be slightly modified. Unfortunately, when its get into guro pictures you need to make stuff yourself wahst also includes some drawing.
The hardest part is actually to make a good visual representation of the character's mind. ;) so I have to try various styles until it gets right(biggest problem is to find proper hair) this is what takes most of the time initially and later when you have everything assembled you just play with them as with dolls LOL
One image may require 5-40 minutes to make, depending on how different it is from the previous picture.
Fortunately, this process is also way more enjoyable because you are more like a movie or photoshoot director than painter ;) I made some attempts in painting but meh, that's boring. I wonder how people manage to stay working on the same picture for a few hours or even days.
In comparison to drawn art, it is super quick to the level where one drawn picture is equivalent to entire 3d story.
