You may be right about English but most of us here are not native English speakers so I guess we assign gender to English words too. ;)
Also, It may work in English too, because names are usually specific to men and women and that creates a certain intuitive feeling about what gender should be assigned to some word just like you would assign it to the unknown name.


Now I think again about the idea why those angels and demons in most of the other movies look like the character itself as look like in those situations they are good and evil thoughts of that same character while I treat conscience as a separate entity which is not really very nice, nagging you and you have to deal with it somehow :)
