The sense of dread that filled Rey was unlike any of the harrowing encounters she had encountered on Jakku. Tugging against Maz’s strong grip and gripping her staff, she cursed herself for agreeing to follow the impish alien underneath the palace. The pair reached an old wooden door with seemingly pure threads of dread poking from behind the slats. Maz saw her hesitation and made the move for the scavenger. Pulling on the large ring, the door opened. The storage room on the other side did little to calm Rey as her focus was drawn towards a plain box. Kneeling and grasping the clasp with fumbling fingers, she flipped the led and balked at a ridged cylinder. Holding her staff softly, she knew that without a doubt it was the source of all her tension. Looking back at the short alien barkeep, Rey reached down and took hold of the shining shaft.

In an instant, Rey was blasted throughout time itself. The flashing images were too much to take in but a burning temple, a man dressed in black and an old R2 unit stuck in her head. When time stopped flowing, she found herself laying on a floor of smooth durasteel. Standing up, she saw that the saber was still in her hand. The overall shape of the hanger looked similar, like an ISD’s hanger but cleaner. The clacking of duraplast boots drew her attention as a squad of Stormtroopers were charging in. Oblivious to what she was holding, she fumbled and hit the large gold switch. A beam of blue plasma burst from the top with enough force to stop the advancing troopers. Another set of footsteps joined the chorus before her however, followed by heavy breathing.

A massive man clad in black enveloped a doorway with a similar shaft in his fist. As he drew nearer, Rey’s frightened mind put a few pieces together and recoiled as it was none other than Darth Vader! A beam of Red drew from his cylinder as he approached swiftly. Rey, feeling pure adrenaline flowing through her body let out a cry and charged! Her staff hit the floor as she sprinted and swung her new weapon at him.
