right, but there's usually more ideas for endings than time to make stories for them all, so alts are a way to get around that. if you don't save all scenes, that's probably a bit harder to do though :P

there's lots of ideas how you could discard a useless horse… i don't know if that was international, but a few years ago there was this huge scandal when they discovered horse meat in lasagne… maybe he could make some lasagne next :P
(if you do go down that road, some "insight" into the preparation process would also be fun, especially if she's alive for some of it)
