Yes and I don't see the reason to make story nonlinear as in that case it gets pretty annoying because you still need to see all endings and all routes which requires lots of replaying.

Although it is not exactly stopped by death it just ends in one or another way and even that ending may have quite a story of itself. But once you make a choice it is not going to branch anymore
and obviously you can come back reloading the saved game at the previous choice and juts make another selection.
