As with anything I make, the point is to have fun. I'm doing it because I want to do it and I can.
Half of my pictures, the other one from the half about the Kagamine twins, are about Alisa Seleznyova, which is even more niche, and that doesn't stop me. If anything, that's the whole point, since nobody else is doing it, them I'm gonna do it by myself. So funny you'd think Everlasting Summer being "dead" would stop me. And it's not even remotely dead.
Just see how someone above complained about a problem with Ulyana's character card, someone's interested alright, not just in ES, but specifically in these character models I'm making. I was actually wondering if I should post me character cards (or rather news about them) here, but that reply assured me that someone indeed cares, thus I indeed should.
I'm also working right now on a requested picture set about Slavya, and the person who requested it doesn't even speak Russian. So your assessment of Everlasting Summer's popularity and its geographical localization is an underestimation. And as for Russian audience, just a week ago a YouTube channel DaveStory was reading my fanfic "Slavya and Horse" on a livestream. Which is how I learned about the channel, and then through the channel I learned today about a mod "Короткое Размыкание" (dunno how to translate it properly, it's a word play on short circuit, but the circuit is open instead of closed) from the same channel, which was released just last year, it's a short humorous one, but I had a lot of fun reading it, I highly recommend it if you can read Russian. And in the comments on Steam the author of the mod mentioned working on a sequel. Another seemingly good quality mod DaveStory is currently doing a letsplay of, "Afterglow: Legacy", has its last update in May this year. Everlasting Summer itself got an engine update in January, and the latest update was getting a Turkic translation in March this year. Everlasting Summer even now is more alive than all the living ones.
Also the whole idea of calling singleplayer games dead for having low online player count is ridiculous. Don't apply multiplayer logic to singleplayer games. Dying is something that only happens to multiplayer games, because you can't play them if nobody else does, and chances are the servers are also closed. But for singleplayer games having low online player count has no effect on them. I've read Samantha-mod (Also highly recommend, but prepare to cry a lot, and apparently the whole Samantha route is translated into Enlish as if current year) just earlier this year for the first time, and nothing about it or the game itself being old and "dead" stopped me from enjoying it.
Then even if we go by the stupid online player count metric, SteamDB is showing around 688 players as 24-hour peak, which is more than a half of the 1160 players online it had on release date. Now let's compare to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, released same year. It had 12675 players at launch and 75 players as the 24-hours peak, only half a percent of the original player count. Talk about dead games, lol.
Everlasting Summer lived, Everlasting Summer lives, Everlasting Summer will live.
Everlasting it is indeed.
