Honestly, I don't think 3d renders look good enough to make into a comic. That's why I prefer to animate them, so I can at least make the stuff move.

Besides, depending on how complex the comic is, It can almost be as much work as an animation. Some people I've seen basically do enough work to almost create all the necessary keyframes for an animation. At that stage, I'd rather do the other 50/60% and create a bunch of short animatons. If I could make myself sit long enough to do either I'd have.
