My serious answer: So, most of it depends on what kind of debt it is. I think you introduced the debt to make sure that not shooting at all is not an option. The Ace Attorney-like part is only the first part of the game. After it, you do end up controlling characters. There are battles, but the game's problem is that the encounter rate is way too high. Luckily, the developer said he's working on a fix.
