I'm totally looking forward to the story, but what is with all the spatial anomalies? On the second picture that small pool looks pretty close to the large one, but on the second from last the large one is nowhere to be seen, then it appears again on the last picture, but seems further away than it used to be. Also on the second from last picture the small pool is deep enough for kids to stand in it submerged if not fully then at least to their necks, and it's totally not some weird illusion due to water bending light because on the same picture the girl has her lower legs lowered vertically which is impossible with the setup from the last picture, which is why on that last picture her pose is different and she has her legs stretched out now.

In text I can just spell out the characters' thoughts and emotions, while pictures are more focused on visuals. It can also be different characters, but using same ones kinda makes an illusion that they are immortal even if those are unrelated stories like in your stories where they die over and over ;)
Another reason is that creating new characters for every story is a bit some of the extra work. So maybe I will limit differences to changing their hair. It may be the same boy and different girls as well. or twin girls since twins render like one character in terms of resources.
In the end, someone probably has to survive or else there is nobody to observe the death. ;)

In my opinion, it is also funnier if characters do not explicitly declare their desire to kill themselves, but find some other way to justify it.

Is it a question of using stock elements that you assemble and customise or is each one worked completely from scratch? I enjoy drawing a lot but digital art is a complete mystery to me!

the process is pretty simple
Yes, I use stock elements most of the time and then assemble character I want. Later it can be slightly modified. Unfortunately, when its get into guro pictures you need to make stuff yourself wahst also includes some drawing.
The hardest part is actually to make a good visual representation of the character's mind. ;) so I have to try various styles until it gets right(biggest problem is to find proper hair) this is what takes most of the time initially and later when you have everything assembled you just play with them as with dolls LOL
One image may require 5-40 minutes to make, depending on how different it is from the previous picture.
Fortunately, this process is also way more enjoyable because you are more like a movie or photoshoot director than painter ;) I made some attempts in painting but meh, that's boring. I wonder how people manage to stay working on the same picture for a few hours or even days.

In comparison to drawn art, it is super quick to the level where one drawn picture is equivalent to entire 3d story.

Ah, thank you for explaining! It makes a lot of sense. I don't have the patience for painting either - did a little in school but it's not for me. I have a three-stage process - I draw the basic shapes/figures in pencil, go over them in a little more detail with an ink pen, rub out the pencil then add the fine detail and shading etc :-)

The secret of the blood on the carpet is actually pretty funny. I did not intend to have it at all but the room I used came with it. So I was thinking about removing it but then I decided that I will use it later.

In fact, this is how many of my stories are born, I get some 3d prop and think "hey that could be a part of this story."
