Although the spit takes some shortcuts, is it the more natural configuration to use the appropriate entries and exits, even the other way around.
The front entry is also the exit - in other words: it's a dead end. And not to forget that it still can be used in the original way, if it is not blocked by the spit.

#1: I said not that there is "nothing blocking the spit", I mentioned that "the spit takes some shortcuts". Of course it doesn't exactly follow the gastrointestinal tract. Strictly speaking only the first part (mouth) and the last part (anus) are involved for sure. Or, to be more precise for you, the last and the first part. And of course it can also happen by chance that one section or another is hit.

#2: I didn't write about anatomical correctness, I wrote it is "the more natural configuration". Mouth and back door are entry and exit of the same unit - or vice versa, if you prefer (see #1). They belong together. The front door stands alone and is a dead end. That's the point.

So I'll answer your second question with a definite "Really!" :D
