Hey friends, legit question, when creating 3d content, I see very small portion of creators to aim for realistic results, like body type, skin and so on. Even with all the 3d softwares available nowadays. Why is it like that? Are people turned on more on cartoon looking characters?

If it's on this site, it's probably because photo-realistic images are banned - likely to make moderating easier. If it's also true on sites without that restriction, I don't know

Heyo!
Just out of curiosity, your example is not very representative of most 3d art I know.
If you are talking about really absolutely photo-realistic art, that has been answered already.
But just one thread further below yours (bump order) was this pic for example:

That is not realistic enough for you? Sure, it's no photo, but not very "cartoony" either.
Pretty awesome at that, using the opportunity to tip my hat to Trrest. Noice.
How about this one?:

Personally, I actually do prefer a bit more cartoony look, as you can see in my little corner around here.
But that's just me. There is however, examples for 3d artwork out there that is so very much looking like the real thing,
that it is very hard to distinguish.
Came across some pics of that quality just yesterday, but
a) do not have them handy right now, or else I might post those and
b) no gore, so no reason to dig them out either.
