-Talented medics often donate their body to science, and instead of being slaughtered outright when time comes, are given a lab rat exemption- their limbs and womb are removed to strip them of ability to work and reproduce, but they are allowed to keep their head. It is not an option available to most girls since labs give preference to medical professionals that can self-diagnose and not just describe symptoms. As they are used for things like drug testing, their bodies are considered contaminated and unsuitable to be used as meat, so after serving their purpose, they get sent to medical schools as cadavers, and then destroyed as medical waste.
Although, most cadavers used for training are low-grade dairy meat purchased on the market, and these usually serve as dinner for the team after being dissected. Live lab rat cadavers are uncommon and thus valuable for specific applications.
All that has lead to rapid advancements in the medical field.
