The oven was blisteringly hot as Carolyn slid into place between glowing orange heating elements.
It was like she imagined walking on the surface of the sun would feel like. It took less than a second for her skin and eyes to dry out.
The spit on her tongue, and the tears dripping from her eyes evaporated instantly.
She tried to breathe in the tiny pocket of air from her oven bag, but it was like breathing in a mouthful of molten lava.
Carolyn kicked and squirmed youthfully as the outer layer of her skin crisped and hardened. She tried to scream how it burned her, but the plastic in her mouth meant that all anyone outside heard was a low tortured moan.
She could smell herself cooking. The attendant had been right, they were all piggies. She smelled just like a luau piglet over the coals.
Her mouth watered over her own aroma. Then it evaporated inside her open scream, and painfully steamed the roof of her mouth.
Carolyn's blood began to boil both figuratively, and literally.
How dare they do this to her... she'd kill them all! She kicked, and struck, and lashed out at enemies she couldn't see because her scalded eyes were blind.
But she could hear the attendant mocking her pathetic attempts. with jeering calls like. "This piggy's got some fight left in her." or "This little Piggy's a real screamer. All her friends are dead already... I wonder how long she can keep this up for?"
It made her furious. She willed her arms to move, but they were leaden lumps of cooked flesh now. They twitched uselessly
"I have to commend you Piggy... You put up a really good fight. All your friends died ages ago. But the way you kept on struggling was quite impressive", she faintly heard a voice patronise her.
"But I can see from your weak spasming that your labors are about to come to an end. And now you're just meat"
He was right. He'd been right all along. Carolyn just hadn't wanted to believe it. She lay back in her sack, furious, unhappy, disabled, and impotent. She went silent and slowly finished roasting, spasming unconscious right up until the moment she was finally snuffed out.
The attendant pulled their golden brown meat from the ovens, admiring their crispy crackling, and smoking hot bodies.
he packed them onto the conveyer, ready to be transported to the docks for shipping.
Carolyn hung there with her friends, all limp and dead little roast piggies, smelling heavenly as their meat rested.
