What a strange comment. However, in all seriousness, it's rather useful to have something you can shove coins into to make an emergency call if your mobile runs out of battery or if you're in the middle of buttfuck nowhere that they haven't bothered installing a cell tower anywhere near (because those require continual power, and occasional maintenance, in a way that a landline phone doesn't, beyond someone driving past once a year to check it hasn't been vandalised)

Versus me pointing out that we already *have* a perfectly good, reasonably discreet way of getting hold of the admins, or at least other GC users, without needing to specially set up something rather more public on a new service that may not actually persist beyond a year or two, though, I'm not sure of the relevance. AFAIK, despite it offering voice chat if you really want that, most conversation on discord ends up being text based anyway, so there's not even a great deal of difference, it's just less convenient. If you really can't deal with loading up a dedicated IRC client and your browser doesn't have the facility built in (or easily available plugins), there are multiple websites that provide the necessary connectivity.

The only issue with it at the moment is that there's no longer a handy reference for it on the GC front page, because it doesn't show a news feed with that post stickied at the top of it any more. Same as how the TOR info isn't there either.

(Seriously, where has THAT information gone? Is it hiding somewhere in /dis/, or is there any intent to bring it back in a more easily spotted place?)

I wouldn't want to say for certain, but I'd suspect it's because
a) that's literally what /req/ is for
b) if they're using chrome, they should be pointed towards the extremely useful Image Search Options extension in the store, a free thing that has a very good hitrate for saucing. Address of h-t-t-p-s : / / chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/image-search-options/kljmejbpilkadikecejccebmccagifhl?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-info-dialog
(if they're not using chrome and an equivalent isn't available, then they should first be pointed towards SauceNAO, IQDB, and optionally TinEye and google reverse image search, then towards /req/ if those all fail)
