I wonder if the appeal of gurochan is limited to women because of the 'context' thing you mentioned. I don't care for isolated images, either, vs. stories/comics/games. Hm, here's a thought. If we crosslinked more between /lit/ and AO3, maybe there would be more interchange. Because I think AO3's "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat/Hydra Trash Party" crew and /lit/ have similar interests, but each community doesn't think of the other. Like, I wrote pain/snuff fanfic for LJ at some point and posted it on AO3 but didn't think of crossposting to /lit/… seeing how many people here aren't aware of AO3, and how many AO3 user never would consider gurochan, just raising awareness brings potential.


BTW, this thread surprised me, seeing that all the women here so far like female victim. I wonder if I was correct in my assumption that most female guro fans prefer male victims and congregate on other male victim-centric sites, or it's quite possible by my own biases I underestimated the diversity of people's tastes by filtering it through my own fetishes.
