The idea of cross-linking between /lit/ and Ao3 is a really interesting one. I think one of the main issues is that /lit/ really isn't a format that's conducive to authors who are creating the type of work that makes itself known on Ao3. It's lacking in a lot of fundamental aspects and indeed, I feel like we'd be seeing more links OUT to Ao3 and less links IN to gurochan which would create a bit of an imbalance just due to preference and user-friendliness. It seems to me like it would be a great idea to get some more fresh content flowing though. There are some insanely great torture porns out there (I just read one this morning that had some kidney-removal and everything). I think my main concern is just that in terms of ease of reading, /lit/ kinda…well..doesn't do it. Gurochan seems far more suited to image hosting and doesn't mind admitting to its shortcomings.

As for your aside, I think we all kind of look through the lenses of our own kinks and what we find to be appealing…it's important to chat about things like this in order to gain a better perspective on where people are coming from. That way when we do create content that's fresh and new, we can hold new possibilities in the back of our minds. It's always good to be able to look at things and say "oh, I like that" and have a community that replies back: "That's valid, we like that too!" It's a very human thing to want to know that we're not alone. Loneliness, after all, is one of the worst human experiences.
