I'd be careful about leaving a thread like that around.

It has emboldened at least one other sexist, and that anon seems even less persuadable than OP. The thread is a rallying point for bigots, its title and top comment are even worded as such. If enough of them come out of the woodwork and see they're not alone you may wake up one morning to a major culture shift on this site. Assholes just passing through will see their bigoted views reflected in /dis/ and might decide to stay. Allow too many of them to get comfortable here and a cancer could sprout that you might find difficult to eradicate, it's happened before to other small sites. Most of the content on gurochan is fantasy violence against women. When the line between fantasy and reality starts to blur (and dehumanizing real women does blur it), you might find that a new userbase replaces the current one faster than you expect. The entire character of the site will be changed.

It's misguided in the first place to leave the thread up hoping it'll persuade anyone. Bigotry isn't easily overcome. No well-worded argument in a thread is going to convert gleeful bigots like >>10727 into decent people (at least not faster than more of them can show up). As of >>10696 OP still wants women to be aborted en masse; no one's even made a dent in his views. Bigots have to want to change, or otherwise experience an emotional shock that jolts them out of their worldview. Persuasion, especially by text alone, will almost never be enough. I've personally never seen it work. Views like theirs are not rooted in logic, to reform a bigot you have to dig into their internal wiring and mess with some core settings - their identity, their emotional drives, their fucking conception of human nature. People guard that stuff, most people don't WANT to change who they are to that extent.

All of this having been said, I can see why some of you want to keep the thread, since it documents the responses of some community members, so I'd like to suggest a compromise. In two steps:

(1) Post a follow-up mod statement, either in the thread or stickied at the top of /dis/, establishing for the record that gurochan does not welcome bigotry - especially not against women, given the content of this site. Reinforce the line between fantasy and reality. Without that line, the content on this site takes on a much different tone, and many guro artists won't want to be associated with that.

(2) Lock the thread - either now, or soon in the future, before the normal community members lose interest and only bigots are left talking to each other, solidifying themselves, feeling secure in each other's company. The thread must be locked while normal community members still dominate the discussion. We already have bigots talking to each other in there so the time to lock the thread is approaching.

As soon as normal community members stop posting in there, lock the thread.
