two users on a history forum in the 2000s got to know each other. They shared a love for 20th century history, and WWII history in particular. They got to know each other for months and formed a close friendship. When one of them learned the other was a woman, he freaked out, accused her of faking her interest in history, and cut contact. Before she revealed her gender to him he had no idea.
You're like that guy. You interpret a person's actions and motives differently when you know the person is a woman. Subconsciously, you bend your understanding of those around you to affirm your view of women. You do this because, subconsciously, you are afraid tp lose respect in the eyes of other men. If you respect someone they consider lower, then you put yourself on the same level as that lower person in their eyes. Your disrespect for women is an ego-protective mechanism.
