I find it quite strange that guro is so unpopular because most of us practically grew up on guro. Even on this day, I noticed that my 5-year niece is very interested in cannibalism, and also many children are interested in scat. Probably even the majority of all my childhood cartoons and stories have some amount of guro in them.

It happened that I was born in a place where the internet and even any information about sex was unavailable completely I probably only found out how children are made at the age of 10 and considered it to be very disgusting. ;)
But at that time I had books with fairytales
The most notable of them was a story about a Witch who wanted to eat a child. The plot was pretty much exactly the same as "The Wolf and The Seven Little Goats" except that rather than complaining about the voice the child said that his mother looks different because his mom has no hand, no leg, and otherwise pretty crippled, ending everything that she even has no head. The witch was probably very hungry and also stupid because she attempted to make herself look like his mother.
The whole story is about how the witch gets mutilated piece by piece and comes back just to hear that she still have too many limbs LOL

And at that time it was the most erotic thing I ever had. I had no clue why and what does it even means but that state of arousal was pretty pleasant. At that time I had no interest in girls or women and had no clue what those things are for and what you are supposed to do with them.
I had other guro stories but these were not so erotic.

For some reason body getting pierced by the sword or anything else also was erotic to me maybe because when you have an orgasm you feel those butterflies in the belly so I probably imagined that getting pierced would fell in some similar way I never even imagined that anything of that could be painful or even cause any discomfort.
So here my first guro movie was some movie where some Japanese general was performing harakiri and also it was a magic trick where someone gets pierced with a fake sword.

I also was always interested in horror movies with lots of gore and blood (at least as much as that was possible) and to this day I remember a trailer of the movie which was shown on tv as add where someone is holding a beating heart in the hand and movies was sort of somehow related to suicides. I probably decided that someone committed suicide by ripping out their heart there. I was unable to find out the title of that movie even if I still can remember what was in that trailer

Later I totally forgot about guro and just spent time hunting all traces of normal porn and nudity anywhere where that was possible, trying to find something more interesting and more extreme than before.

I even had internet for several years and had no clue about the existence of anime and hentai at that time I was mostly interested in BDSM and I even managed to hack into torturegalaxy site which had the most hardcore things on the internet until I accidentally stumbled on Guro and discovered the Japanese internet.
Later I found 4chan when it still had the guro section and as I remember guro existed on 2chan as well as
when 4chan banned guro, the first iteration of gurochan born where 4chan users moved and also 5chan came into existence which was sort of the best imageboard at the time. eventually, 5chan admin just killed his site for no reason without any warning. But from that time guro was already easily accessible.
