Being into guro has nothing to do with being lonely as a kid or whatever. It comes from both a faulty disgust response and lack of emotional empathy. A normal person would be instinctively disgusted and afraid at the sight of human corpses, they'd think "that could be me, there might be something dangerous nearby".

They'd also connect their own unpleasant experiences of pain with others' and wince at the sight of somebody being hurt. If you put people who like guro in a fMRI machine, their response to a lot of stimuli would probably be different than the average.

It's only guro if it's intended to cause arousal, so not really. People aren't born blank slates, so my guess is guro fans were born predisposed to it.
