>People aren't born blank slates, so my guess is guro fans were born predisposed to it.

> I wrote that most weird fetishes... stem from not having a healthy sexual experience in your formative years.

I've had guro style sexual fantasies from a really early age, so I'm not really sure if it's developmental or innate because I can't really remember a time I wasn't interested in it.

As a preschooler, so I had to have been like 4 or 5 years old, I used to have this specific fantasty about people being stripped down to their underwear and strapped to this big conveyor belt, where they'd be sent through a machine that would cut them up alive and sort the parts into different bins. That's the earliest one I could remember.

Also, one day in first grade during recess I drew a picture of scene where there were three women strapped to operating tables, and a mad scientist was cutting off their arms and legs. I put it in my homework folder so I got in trouble when I got home because my Mom found it, lol.

Some time later in grade school, my friends were all into Naruto, (I never had cable at my house so I only knew about it from them), and we used roleplay ninja characters we made up. Mine was a rogue member of an assassin clan that would make their victims into taxidermied trophies with marbles in place of their eyes, and display them to the public.

My actual first exposure to guro online was when I looked up "slave leia" pictures online when I was ~12-13 and ended up on one of those sketchy porn sites where clicking on a picture takes you to another site, and then another site, etc... and never the actual picture. I think it was just a bsdm themed site, but I kept clicking on images until I eventually ended up on a site with some guro illustrations. I remember some of Dolcett's art, specifically the one of Karyn cooking on a spit with a skewer stuck into her breasts. It was kind of a wierd mix of arousal and fear/shame that I was doing something super morally wrong by looking at it.

I found gurochan probably within a year later. I was always ashamed of my weirdly violent sexual desires (well, just sexual desires in general really), but it helped me a lot to realize that there were other people out there like that and it was really stressed in the community to distinguish reality from fantasy.

>Being into guro... comes from both a faulty disgust response and lack of emotional empathy.

I feel like for me this is yes and no. I feel like I have an overactive disgust response to real life situations, I legit have to wash my entire body off after I take a shit. I have a lot of fantasies involving necrophilia but if I touched an actual corpse I'd probably run off immediately cleanse myself.

I can kind of see myself on the lack of emotional empathy things, but I also kind of get off on feeling like, pity/sonder for the characters in guro stories, like the whole "tragedy" of it, so idk what to make of that.

>>We do not have enough of happy nonsensical guro with no consequences and when normal people see it they get the wrong impression.

I cannot get off to that. I need consequences. What's the point of people suffering and dying if there's no finality to it? What does loss mean when it can be undone effortlessly?

I immediately skip stories tagged with stuff like "resurrection" or "regeneration" because I know they're not going to explore the traumatic implications of those scenarios and I will, therefore, be disappointed.

That's fine if that's how you enjoy it, but it just doesn't work for me.
