I partially disagree art "should" be free, artists have a right to survive from their craft, however I also partially agree with the notion since paywalled content is getting ridiculous. I follow dozens of guro artists on Pixiv, and many of them have started paywalling their content, even with a job paying a little over the average there is no way to afford such a ridiculous amount of paywalled content anymore.

I DO support as many artists as I can with my subscription on Pixiv and Fanbox, but I ONLY pay those who eventually release their main content for free for others.

I don't like to financially support people who paywall their content indefinitely, especially those who follow the scummy and dreaded "uncensored version under paywall only LOL" practice. It is bullshit, I believe artists deserve money but I also believe art is to be shared and art NEEDS to be preserved. 5-10 dollars a month might not seem as much, but very few worthwhile artists deliver more than 1 or 2 decent pieces monthly, barely justifying the subscription, now multiply that by the dozens of artists that have started paywalling their content. It gets ridiculously pricey very fast.

That being said, I know life is becoming more and more expensive around the world, so artists need more money just to sustain a decent lifestyle, however I believe that regardless of that, people would be more inclined to support them if they didn't paywall their content permanently.
