Couldn't agree more with your reasoning, despite the point that piracy will exist forever.
If you asked a successful bankrobber if bank robbery will still exist in the future, that guy would have said 'yes, there will always be banks'.
The fact is, yes, there are still banks, but if you tried to rob one, the most you can get out of it are a couple grand, - if any-, that's about it.
Very counterintuitive and unforseeable from the perspective of a bankrobber of the past who was used to carry home large piles of money.

The fact that the customer is spread to thin is true.
In my opinion it's the fault of the monetization model of running subscriptions.
From the artists and the platforms point of view this is the most desireable because of the guaranteed cashflow but for the customer, it's a nightmare.

I fucking HATE subscriptions.

Todays artists are too scared and whiny to put out a product and just sell it.
The customer can vote with their wallet amongst all the products out there,
regardless of the artist behind it without having to commit longterm.

If the artists wants to open a chance for fans to support anyway,
just give the fans a possibility to donate.

If they did that (selling just the product), a lot of them would realize that they're unable to actually compete with the top-dogs.
And I believe that many Artist KNOW that they're not competetive enough; so they lure the paying people into subscriptions, tie them up with alluring promises for the future they mostly cannot keep and try to milk them as long as they can.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

A lot of the artists out there do not deserve any money, objectively speaking.
They're simply not good enough.
And the fact that they not realize that and still try to force-choke some $$$, complaining that 'piracy' would destroy them is equally disgusting.
