Yes I have to agree, discord has a lot of features and shiny stuff but, but their policy is really severe and it doesn't require a rat to get you banned the staff can check your conversations and ban you without warning.
IRC is the best choice for those who want to get in touch, it's outdated but it's a chat and it's safe!
Besides IRC doesn't get old it gets better with age!
