I'll predent I didn't read that statement because I don't like the "new" internet eigher but once you get to know it it's really not that frightening.
Anyways here is a link where you can download older versions of Tor(some of them even work on windows xp) so you wont have to worty about anyonw spying on your activity.This site doesn't even have cookies!^^

There is ofc a quicker way to acces the tor network from your browser that is an onion proxy like onion.pet and many others.

And if you want to feel 100% safe Don't! use the f-king googe chrome browser, it does indeed use some of your data but they don't monitor your activity like ppl say.
