I myself am studying heavily lloyd demausse's Psycho-History, so im trying to join the knots. But also I DO enjoy some guro, the sweet thin line between "buddhist meditation on death" and "erotic art" is appealing.
as for amputees,my theory is that it has to do with ritual finger amputation,which was super common in the stone age as evidenced by so many missing fingers in cave hand-paintings.
