i know. that's the point. dead communities are often talked about in a negative light, but they are so comfy and peaceful. there is a kind of serenity in death, but activity, and life, necessitates a kind of struggle, or suffering that comes from the constant attempt to keep up with a constant red queen's race. that is what life ultimately means. a continuous, self-perpetuating evolution. by bringing activity here, we are not just giving them more stuff to discuss, we are taking away that serenity and peacefulness. of course, living or dying, both are part of the cycle, and both have their roles to fulfill, but the change in status quo always entails some things will be left behind, even if you don't recognize it until you miss it, well past the time you could hope to get it back. unrelatedly

that is, in my opinion, the essence of /meat/. he sees it as jarring, but i see it as endearing. there is an often-overlooked connection between these two seeming opposites that some would assume would break the law of non-contradiction, yet it remains perfectly internally consistent. i find that connection to be the core of the beauty of /meat/, and most guro communities in general. it's almost philosophical, yet nobody needs to think of it in such a way to feel it's effect.
