I think at this time when payment systems are cracking down on lolis and guro artists don't even have any choice buts shift to donation sheme.
maybe drawn art is somewhat safe for now but idea that their system is used to pay for disgusting stuff is not liked by payment processors.

Or they just get banned and throw in the towel. Like now when fanbox got purged lots of artists just ended their carriers and not even sure if they will repost tehr stuff anywhere.

one reason why I think that paywals may be not really that bad idea after all even if I am against any kind of copyright nonsense is that consumers do not bother to provide any feedback You can post your stuff and it just pretty much goes into black hole. no clue if anyone was even interested or it was just some pointless waste of time.
Putting it by paywall at least you see that people are willing to pay. If it gets leaked you can at least think that it was worth of leaking. And if someone wants it for free they can just ask or I suspect that many people will rather pay few $ than ask
