I think paywalls are like pay to play thing. or rather pay to win. paying for that stuff to some people just feels wrong even if price is insignificant.

you will have people who don't mind to spend money juts for small convenience and you will have some who will categorically refuse even if that will require to make titanic effort.

If I would ever pay for some content it woud be just to upload it somewhere. Otherwise the idea that I am paying for the content rather than supporting the author is already wrong.

So it would be best if authors do the right thing and after certain amount of time juts post everything or most of the stuff for free. Which gives incentive to everyone to support the in one or another way
But when authors become hostile and start a war with their fans this does not end very well.
