Gonna go off on a huge tangent about the porn industry thing. Porn in the early days, or at least the days i'm familiar with, the 70s-early 80s, was nothing like the porn industry of today. I guess before I talk about the porn from those days, I'll just say I dont think porn manipulates the sexual interests of women and men too much, especially men. Guys will fuck anything with a cute face, women are pretty ditzy and just wanna marry well-off men that can give them a "dreamy life", where all the woman will do is live a peaceful life, sitting on her ass, painting pictures of dandelions while sipping chamomile tea. If you end up reading this shit I'd like to know what exactly you think porn does to people's sex lives (without rambling about traditionalism or something equally as stupid)? Anyhow, porn in my day was different. Ignoring amateur stuff, most porn movies in the production phase, started off as regular movies or exploitation films, that didn't get the budget, and could only be funded and make a decent profit as porno flicks. This meant that a lot of the porn was more story heavy, and the sex was usually less rough. Fast-forwarding to the 90s, fetish content became a lot less niche, at least in America anyway, since other countries in the 80s were already known for producing "weird porn", like scat stuff, voyeurism and bdsm. Some of the first traces of the guro community were found within secret little mailorder zines, that could be ordered off the back of a general fetish magazine or whatever. Within these zines, contained fetishistic gore-related content, mostly cannibalism and asphyxiation/choking stuff. Then came the age of the internet, where guys were running little backdoor bulletin board communities, and newsgroups, where likeminded individuals shared the first wave of cannibalism, asphyxiation and hanging photoshoots. Then came the AOL influx, the rise of the web. By that point, webcam porn was a thing, and pretty much any schmuck could make their own porn. The "industry" hadn't yet made it's way to the net. It was a sea of amateur content, fetish sites, ftp servers and invite-only forums, where people would share content. A time where google's only function was to index the entire web, and help you find content YOU wanted to find, not shit google coaxes you into finding. Another timeskip ahead for the sake of preventing this longpost from being longer, the internet has been through a lot. We're now on web3, where everything is regulated, and every asshole fat cat producer type from tv moved their cancer over here, making sure YOU see inescapable advertisements to their shitty subscription based services, whether you have adblockers or not. There are only a few major porn sites left, everything else is just a honeypot link that redirects you to aidsridden pop up sites or chinese telegram scam groups. The communities that used to be safehavens for freaks like us, are now closed off and made private, only available to the few old sods that got an invite back in the early 00s.
So yeah, these days I can see how the "porn monopolists" would have more reach, since sites like the ones I mentioned, or even something like gurochan, keep getting shadowbanned and taken down, time and time again. But… there's a certain age where you stop being so easily manipulated. Unless you have an actual mental deficiency, most normalfags start to grow a brain around 25, and can make decisions for themselves, uninfluenced by pornography, even if they do watch it :)
