You can use normal hyperlinks anywhere on GUROchan, this should be obvious.
They do not require JavaScript and you can also refer to external content.

This one goes to the academy-thread itself:
https://boards.guro.cx/dis/koko.php?res=25102&page=1

This one opens the thread too, but jumps directly to the post about reporting:
https://boards.guro.cx/dis/koko.php?res=25102&page=1#p6_25342

And last, but not least, you can link to any content directly, like the description about reporting:
https://boards.guro.cx/dis/src/1787256322036.png

So far - so easy.

GUROchan does have several functions for internal references.
You do need JavaScript to be enabled for those to work properly, or at all.

They are all activated by a combination of the right arrow(s) and a post ID.
Take a look at the first line of each post. It is always built like this:
(# consecutive Number of the post in that thread. If there are Numbers missing, it means that something has been deleted after posting)
(Checkbox to mark a post for deletion, see >>25103)
(Subject of the post)
(Name of the poster)
(Date)
(Time)
("No.)
(unique post ID)
(▶ play button, not right arrow, to open hide & report functions)

Did you notice, that behind ("No.) and (unique post ID) there are two different hyperlinks?
A bit confusing, because the first one behind ("No.) refers to the unique post ID itself
and jumps directly to it, while the second link behind the (unique post ID) creates a quote
of that post in the Comment section and the quick reply pop-up window.
You can also enter that manually, which will come in handy later.

Take a look at the post about reporting above. Its unique ID is 25342.
This is only unique inside the board /dis. Try doing a search for No. 25342 across all boards.
There is a 25342 on several boards. That is the reason why a direct reference to a unique post
only works inside a specific board.

Now, the first kind of reference is the direct text-quote and it starts with a single right arrow.
This kind of quote always finds the last occurrence of the quoted text and creates a link to the corresponding post and an automatic preview,
as well as an entry "Replies(#):" behind the quoted post.
You can use this kind of quote to just make your statement appear as a quote, too. (e.g. in green text board-style "Gurochan")
If the board does not identify the text somewhere in the posts above, it just highlights it and you get a
"Quote not found" - Message on Mouse-Over. This can also happen, if you leave a blank space after the arrow, so to be sure it works
you should enter the quote directly behind the arrow. Let's try that now...

>overlooked something
(this should find the initial post.)

>uniquely identifiable
(this should find the post about JavaScript)

>Dragons are Awesome
(this should find nothing, though the word Awesome can be found in the first post.

>board
(the word "board" can be found 7 times in this thread, but it should return the post about Reporting directly above,
going backwards.)

We've seen already, that using two right arrows creates an internal link directly to a single post with the benefit of an
automatic preview when you move the Mouse over that quote, as opposed to a normal hyperlink which does not create a preview.
In addition, the board informs you about some special positions like the OP, or if a link crosses over to another thread on the same board.

>>25110
(links to the post about the Thread Watcher and creates a preview.)

>>25102
(links to the initial post and should inform you, that this is the opening-, or original post (OP)

As mentioned above, post-IDs are unique inside a single board.
We can use that fact, to create a reference to a post in another thread on the same board, in this case /dis
again with the benefit of getting a preview of that post.

>>25092
(this goes to the opening post of the "? ask an admin ?" thread and should inform you, that it is a cross-thread reference)

So far, so good. But wouldn't it be great, to be able to reference something on a different board?
Let's say you're very interested in drowning. There is a dedicated thread about that on /g.
Of course, 3dcg and AI are not allowed on /g. Some users don't want to see that kind of content at all, drawings only.
Others are more interested in the topic itself and don't mind the method of creation, or art-style.
It can be a pain in the ass, to stroll around the whole of GUROchan, looking for a specific kind of content, in this example drowning.
You can of course use a normal hyperlink to inform those that are interested about content on other boards,
without pissing off others by putting content where it doesn't belong. And that is, how most people do it.
The only downside being, that you have no idea, what you get and have to follow the link blindly.
Well... you don't have to do it that way.

>>>/3dcg/58091
(drowning on 3dcg, even though we're on /dis)

You have to type those manually. Three arrows / board / unique post ID (on THAT board) no blank spaces, mind the spelling.
Post number No.25353
Board Discussion
Optional. Describe what's wrong with it.
