Well, even if not for morals, it helps me with world building too.
But I think it helps me keep my heart from moving away from where it is too much.

I am into consensual and loving torture/death, and imagining myself in situations like that helped me to love myself even more. Self love and even self romance got elevated to new heights when I started putting myself more into, hmm, gorey romantic situations with myself :3

Needle and knife play, and yeah, I've done some self pokes, lots of fun and many warm feels. Blood flowing down my skin looks beautiful. I can recommend it to everyone who is into things like that, as long as they are able to follow basic safety precautions.

As for selfharmers, as far as I know, they do it out of self hatred, not out of love? They are still great resource of, hmm, what not to do, like, do not cut deep if you don't want scars, don't drain yourself out of blood to cause anemia etc…

My mental state lately has been a lot better ever since I've been letting my depraved side loose. A little masochism is good for the soul!~

Fetlife has a lot of info about it. Basically, just use fresh and sterile things, prepare skin, make sure you are not poking anything important. Just like with standard injections I guess. Good luck, and feel free to ask or write if you need more info :3
