There used to be story repositories around, Eli The Beard I believe one was called (now taken down). It had hundreds of stories of varying quality.
Anyone know if there are still some of those around?

The original Eli the Bearded Collection was never lost or taken down
    Here is the link:

This is a very old link and and it's dead for a long time now

You can find the Eli collection here on the asstr mirror

    https://asstr.xyz/~ASSHoF/eli_the_bearded.htm
    https://asstr.xyz/files/Collections/Eli.The.Bearded/todo/

Fun fact Eli the Bearded was the asstr.org resident moderator for the most part of it's existence

Sorry but all those links appear broken and the ftp won't connect - maybe I'm just bad at it.

    Thanks for the replies though!

did a little tinkering with the stuff posted above and I managed to obtain the stories from one of the links in the post above

    https://asstr.xyz/files/Collections/Eli.The.Bearded/todo/

So to obtain the stories from that mess you must do the following

    1. Click on a story name, the browser can't open the link but it will prompt you to save a file of the same name without an extension. This is not a virus or anything, it is the actual story with old htm code and without extension

    2. Right click on the file in the location where it was saved i.e downloads or desktop and select Open with option then select notepad/ worpad or any text editor

    3. The story will appear with parts of old htm code in it

    4. Use clipboard and cut/paste the story in a new file and save it with *txt/doc extension

    5. Voila you have salvaged a story

I don't have time atm to do this but would appreciate if you or someone would do this for all the stories posted, make an archive and upload it for posterity Good luck!

That does indeed work, thanks for the walkthrough!
Sadly it's a fraction of the stories in the original repository and it does seem the 100s of stories in there are lost for good.
