    Most of them in the 90s to 2000s toned down the gore and tried to make Itchy a sympathetic character and Scratchy a jerk that bullied or attacked Itchy.

    In other words, they somehow forgot it was a parody and not Tom and Jerry played straight. They even did this in the (thankfully short lived) spinoff series.

    The Simpsons show stopped having Scratchy fight with Itchy around 1991. And Scratchy stopped acting antagonistic in the 1990s.


    Bongo comics had Scratchy act antagonistic as late as the year, 2000, which is very out of touch I feel.

    Also I checked and that >>15906 comic is from 1996, so Kudos to the writer there for understanding Itchy and Scratchy better than many other people at Bongo!
