In the end I settled on the text you can now see on the picture, but it was hard to decide.
The other idea I had in mind was based on how Rei on this picture looks somewhat like... I don't know... she's going to be first person into space or something?.. And after photoshopping the entry plug into an oven, she's first to test the prototype oven and cook suit or/and first girl to be legally cooked after cannibalism was legalised. Then this idea splits up:
First is an article "You all know this photo as the first test of NERV's famous EVA oven and cook suit or/and first girl to be legally cooked. But do you know all of the story behind it?"
Another is Shinji showing the photo to his children (most probably from Asuka) and telling about it.
Then both tell mostly the same story. NERV is a corporation that invented those ovens and suits and became increadibly rich, but it was not always so. Gendo died shortly before the protopypes were complete, Shinji took over, but no one believed in young boy's succes, so no one was willing to invest and NERV was on the verge of bankruptcy. But while no one believen in Shinji, his girlfriend or/and sister Rei did, so she volunteered to test the prototype. Rei's meat was eaten by Shinji and the investors who appreciated the meat quality and it made them invest money for futher development/production. Rei made prosperous future for Shinji, though she didn't live to see it.
It may also include a twist where Rei didn't really believe in NERV's long-term succes, but she saw Shinji desperately needed support, and as a good girlfriend and/or sister, she provided it. This of course can only be just third-person POV, not an article or Shinji's words, as no one could knew Rei's thoughts.
