I love the expressions imminent death draws out from people. That terror, disbelief, and desperation building with every second is really what peril's all about. That's why I like time bombs. Other methods might be more gruesome and more painful, drownings and hangings for example, but that also means there's more distractions for the victim.
With bombs they just sit there, watching the timer tick down, free to sob and struggle and scream to the very last moment of their life.
