The creator spelled it wrong. He meant to say "guard". It allows your servant to step in front of you whenever you take damage and have it drain their stamina instead.

Normally if someone hit you, you die. If you bought a shield, the shield is consumed and you don't die. Since servants can have up to 5 stamina and guard only removes 1 per hit, this move makes you very tanky. That's why it's so expensive.
