From what I've heard, first he stopped drawing loli because it got him into trouble with authorities in his country, and later decided to stop drawing guro because he wanted to appeal to a more mainstream audience and he was terrified of cancel culture.
He of course gave the cliche "I never really liked drawing those things guize" to save face with the mainstream.
I'm guessing he's making more money now so can't really blame him for not going back.
