Also it's not Joan of Arc, just a painting of some heretic. Sadly the painting is currently in bad shape and rotting in a basement in Germany after the museum that housed it closed. Here's another piece by the same painter.

Dutch noblewoman and Anabaptist burned at the stake for heresy

Sometimes witches/heretics were not tied to a stake, but instead to a ladder which was held above (or sometimes more mercyful just tossed inside) a huge blazing fire.
    >>
Sometimes different executions were combined, like cutting of the hands and burning and hanging … just to be sure

A Pagan celebration burning someone who does Pagan things

Human Fire Sacrifices were also common in pagan religion … famous examples are the Wicker Man or the Viking Funerals

Did they really burn live things during the Ancient Greek Olympics as they were a pagan celebration (and being more of a peaceful one like the modern Olympics) even though they were some doves that got burnt by the olympic flame at 1988 Olympics?

Scene from the "Farmer Uprise (some called it a war)" 1525 in germany … it failed and the leader, a man called Jäcklein Rohrbach, was condemed to be burned alive.

He was bound to a tree with a chain to allow him some movement, a macabre dance of dead, while encircled by a ring of kindling wood which was set on fire, slowly roasting him alive.

If you're going to post old historical pictures then at least post ones with women as victim.

Agreed. I appreciate anon's enthusiasm but this thread isn't made for old boring pics or stuff you can find easily with a simple google search.

Very interesting anon. Thank you. It seems to be an engraving on linen. The picture is incomplete yet I cannot find a full version of it unfortunately. No clue as to where the original is stored either.
