It's bittersweet to see more of Dave's older work, it's nice to see his missing work and remember his golden years, but it's sad that he's not even the shadow of who he used to be, first he stopped drawing loli, then he stopped drawing guro, then he switched his unique style to the dreaded blurry tumblrnose style he uses nowadays.

So the girl with the brown hair and green eyes is the one I commissioned art of the most, and a couple different versions of her appear in these pictures.

The versions where she has short hair is from an urban fantasy setting where she's half angel, and functionally immortal. So all of the deaths she eventually comes back from.

She's also the mother of the other girls in >>87292 , >>87293 , >>87294 , >>87295 , >>87297 who are all basically immortal as well.

As for this comic, the missing pages were going to show what happened to the first girl's body. During the fight as the ogre uses it as a club it gets frozen by a mage and shatters into pieces.

Then at some point what's left of her head gets accidentally smashed by the ogre as he steps on it.

The second girl was entirely Dave's idea.

He of course gave the cliche "I never really liked drawing those things guize" to save face with the mainstream.

As I said, he's afraid of cancel culture, I can't blame him for that one, I would be too in his place. He wanted to move to more mainstream waters and pursue older glories, and it is completely respectable and understandable. I'm on the "Not mad, just disappointed" side of the bus.

The only thing I disagree with what he did was that he pretended he was never into any of it in the first place and then threw the guro community under the bus to try to save face, which was absolutely not needed. But even that I can understand, and can't really blame him for that one either given the reputation of eroguro in almost every other community.

It is what it is.

It also helps that he completely changed his art style, so It's easier to just take it as another artist that went away. Artists come and go, and same as you I'm glad he gave what he gave back then. Hope we get more like him in the future, and hope they last a little while longer.

It was a financial issue on my end at the time, not him being unwilling. He didn't stop doing guro until a year or so after this was commissioned.

In fairness to him, he was making statements to that effect while he was still drawing it and actively posting on older iterations of Gurochan. So its a bit more complicated than just trying to distance himself for the sake of getting into the good graces of the mainstream.

As far as he told it, he initially drew Guro art because at first he found it interesting on a technical level, but it had no other appeal to him. He kept having to fall back on drawing Guro because his other ventures never worked out financially. Eventually that technical appeal wore off and he burnt out hard drawing stuff he didn't really like at all just because it was what was paying the bills at the time.

I remember him back from his Scribblekid days... wasn't much older than the girls he's been drawing. I suspect his art belongs to some of the top reasons I've grown to enjoy guro. Shame he's got so much flak from those hypocrites.

We will probably never know if he likes guro himself or just tried to make money but I can't imagine someone drawing a fetish this well without enjoying it to some degree.

I honestly see no point in commissioning him anymore, his art style is a sad shadow of what it used to be during the Angel Corps era. People joked about sameface even back then but boy did it get worse with time, not to mention the bloody Tumblrnose he draws nowadays.
