Summary: When Umbridge's educational decrees threaten to leave Hogwarts students defenseless, Harry, Ron, and Hermione take matters into their own hands. Within the secrecy of the Room of Requirement, they organize Dumbledore's Army to instruct their fellow students in what the coming war truly demands: strength, skill... and sacrifice. Features graphic depictions of death, mutilation, and sexual violence, set against a backdrop of callous horror that questions the very nature of authority.

The Room of Requirement hummed, a low, expectant thrum beneath the excited chatter of young voices. The air carried a fresh tang of anticipation. Wands gleamed, poised in eager hands, as the assembled students of Dumbledore's Army buzzed with the thrill of their first true practical lesson. This wasn't some dusty textbook affair; this was real, practical magic, guided by Harry Potter himself. He stood before them flanked by Hermione and Ron, the trio looking every bit the capable - if slightly overwhelmed - instructors.
"Alright everyone, settle down," Harry's voice cut through the clamor, clear and authoritative. A hush fell as all eyes fixed on him. "Welcome. This is what we're here for – to learn real magic, the kind you need when things get messy. The truth is that bad things are coming and the Ministry... well, they aren't teaching you what you need to know to defend yourselves. We are." He paused, letting that sink in, a subtle rebellion simmering in the air. "Today, we're going to master the stunning spell. Stupefy." He flicked his wand, and a burst of scarlet light sizzled harmlessly into the far wall. "It's one of the most useful spells in your arsenal - a wizard's bread and butter, really. Non-lethal but incredibly effective for incapacitating an opponent. You can use it to disarm threats or even just clear a path. You'll be using it constantly, trust me. It's a foundational skill." He grinned, a flash of white in the candlelit room. "Now, who fancies a demonstration?"
Ginny Weasley surged forward, a living ember of fiery red with her gaze fixed on Harry. A palpable eagerness radiated from her, a bright, uncontainable energy that shimmered around her lithe form. Her stark white shirt was a crisp second skin, tight across the burgeoning swell of her chest. The grey V-neck jumper, meant to be modest, instead traced the slender architecture beneath. Her practical skirt, a dark embrace, swirled around strong, athletic legs, each movement a vibrant whisper of anticipation. Her wand, held with an almost innocent grace, belied the flush painting her cheeks. It was a silent testament to how deeply she savored Harry's attention, a burning current in the air she breathed. Each subtle shift of her weight was a silent, unstated proposition—a defiant, youthful promise of a challenge well worth taking.
"Excellent Ginny," Harry murmured, his gaze tracing the vibrant lines of her uniform as she stepped forward. "I need you to position yourself right in that cleared space there," he pointed towards a wide, empty circle near the back wall, almost like a spotlight, "about fifteen feet out. It'll give us ample room for the demonstration, ensure maximum visibility for all, and, well, keep everyone else out of the way of any… stray magic." He gave a brief, almost imperceptible smirk. "Everyone, watch closely. Remember, aim for the chest and use a strong, clear incantation; say it like you mean it." His voice called out "Stupefy!" and a jet of red light shot from his wand, striking Ginny squarely in the chest.
Her body jolted, the sharp impact knocking the wind from her. She stumbled back, landing with a surprised 'oof' as her skirt flared wildly, offering a brief, stark flash of white panties against the warm skin of her inner thigh. Startled, she lay there for a moment, a faint, almost amused grunt escaping her as she rubbed her sternum. Pushing herself up, she instinctively smoothed her skirt, her gaze flicking to Harry. She caught a fleeting, almost imperceptible twitch at the corner of his lips before he turned his attention back to the crowd. An unexpected warmth spread through Ginny, a private, thrilling heat that had nothing to do with the spell's impact. "Excellent!" Harry called out, his attention now sweeping over the rest of the room. "See, everyone? Now, who's ready to try? Aim for Ginny, just like I showed you!"
Ginny, already half-risen, paused as Harry's sweeping gesture invited the rest of the room into their shared space. Her shoulders seemed to slump infinitesimally and a fleeting cloud dulled the fire in her eyes. Then she straightened, composing herself with a practiced ease, ready for what was next.
Then the spells began to land. Ginny's jaw tightened. A spark of challenge blazed in her eyes as she settled into a ready crouch, anticipating each flash of light. A crisp bolt slammed into her chest, knocking the wind from her. She stumbled back and absorbed the impact, managing to pivot and shake her head. Next, an energetic spark hit her mid-thigh. She didn't fall, but a deep, buzzing ache blossomed immediately. It was a persistent sting that burrowed into the muscle long after the light faded, making her leg feel suddenly heavy.
Her initial resistance began to subtly wane. A powerful crimson blast then struck her square in the gut, sending her sprawling backward. Her head hit the floor with a crash, a dull, insistent throbbing igniting at the base of her skull. Her vision swam as she pushed herself up, rubbing the spot. Her movements were now slower. She favored her aching thigh while her head became a persistent drumbeat of pain.
The next spell, a concentrated beam, hit her just below the knee. The impact itself wasn't extreme, but it sent a fresh jolt of pain through her. This sparked new fire in her already protesting hip and amplified the ache in her head. The accumulation of these distinct hurts was beginning to drag her down: the throbbing hip, the pounding head, the stinging knee. Her reactions lagged, her quick thinking dulled by the constant, specific pain. The challenge was no longer exhilarating. It was a slow, grinding torture, as each small hurt compounded until she was less a spirited girl and more a collection of agonizing sensations.
Ginny stood battered but unbowed, gathering herself for the next blow with a tense and ready stance. Her eyes, narrowed in concentration, darted across the faces of her classmates but then froze on a tableau across the room. Harry, oblivious, was lost in a conversation with Cho Chang. Cho was leaning in close with a soft, inviting smile on her lips, her hand hovering near Harry's arm. A pang of something cold, sharper than the lingering aches, twisted in Ginny's gut. The unfairness of the blatant flirtation pulled at her attention, distracting her completely from the barrage. Why was Harry always surrounded by other girls? She frowned, her focus entirely on the two of them. The pain of the stunners was momentarily forgotten in the surge of teenage jealousy.
Lost in that bitter moment of distraction, the next Stupefy hit her. It wasn't particularly powerful, but she was utterly unbraced. Her muscles were lax, her mind miles away. Her weight, standing tall only moments before, gave way instantly as she was pitched backward, twisting as she fell. Her right arm, trapped beneath her, took the full, unyielding force of her descent. A hideous, sickening crunch tore through the silence, and a jagged, stark white shard of bone burst through the grey wool of her jumper sleeve. Ginny gasped, a high strangled sound, her breath catching in her throat as she stared at the protrusion. Kneeling awkwardly, her unblinking gaze fixed on her ruined limb, on the bone slick with a sudden bloom of dark rich blood. Her entire perception narrowed with horrifying clarity on the undeniable, catastrophic damage that had been wrought upon her.
Before she could recover enough to scream, a truly devastating Stupefy exploded into her. The bright red light slammed into her back without warning—a crushing, instantaneous force that gave no quarter. Ginny's broken body was ripped from its kneeling position and launched with alarming velocity, a mere ragdoll catapulted by the sheer might of the spell's magic.
She hit the tall ornate mirror at the far end of the chamber with a shattering explosion of glass, the sound ripping through the room like a banshee's shriek. Every head snapped up, and every whispered conversation ended. All eyes were drawn to the alcove as the air shimmered with glittering fragments. A lethal hail of glass descended. Some shards tinkled on the ground with sharp, crystalline sounds, while others met flesh with ghastly thuds.
Ginny's body convulsed with each impact, a quick series of sharp, stinging blows. Clink, clink, THWIP. Clink, THWIP, THWIP. Her body spasmed, a violent, involuntary jerk, as the rain of fragments peppered her. THWIP-THWIP-THWIP-THWIP. Tiny, wicked shards struck her delicate skin, carving immediate, shallow rivulets of blood. Then, with a sudden CRUNCH, a particularly wicked sliver as long as her finger slammed into her right eye. From her very core a sound was born. It was a gut-wrenching, primal howl that stretched the limits of human vocalization, a pure, unthinking eruption of exquisite agony so profound it seemed to scour the air itself. Even as that monstrous sound ripped through the room, the glass continued its relentless assault. Her left eye, caught in the ceaseless downpour, was blinded as well, thoroughly shredded by the smaller persistent fragments that found their way in and left behind a hollowed out hole of crimson misery.
She lay amidst the glittering debris, a grotesque, living sculpture of ruin, her vision now a terrifying black. Shards protruded from her limbs and torso, glinting with red. A particularly vicious fragment of glass, thick as her forearm, had skewered her chest, missing her heart but plunging deep into her left lung, blooming a dark scarlet stain that spread rapidly across her blouse.
A low guttural moan, more animal than human, tore from her throat. She pushed blindly, scrabbling uselessly against the slick, bloodied floor as her broken nails caught on glass. Her right arm, angled impossibly, reached out in a trembling, pathetic plea for salvation that would never come.
She tried to speak, her mouth opening and closing like a landed fish. Only a wet, bubbling gurgle escaped, forcing a frothy mixture of air and blood from her lips to paint the splintered glass around her. Her body seized. Frantic, involuntary spasms made the embedded glass shift and grind, each movement a fresh agony. She choked, a horrible, rattling sound tearing her very essence from her. Then, a final, shuddering tremor ran through her. Her remaining arm flopped uselessly. Her head lolled to the side, falling back with a dull thud. The spasms ceased. The gurgling died. Stillness descended, absolute and final. A dark, gleaming halo of red steadily widened around her.
"Oh, bloody hell," Hermione whispered, her eyes fixed on Ginny's ruined form. "She's... she's dead."
Harry shifted his weight, his gaze flitting from Ginny's still, broken form to the expectant faces of the onlookers and back again. "Well, um... you see, it's... um..." he mumbled, drawing out the syllable as if trying to conjure an explanation from thin air.
But any words he might have had were overridden by a sharp, authoritative click that reverberated through the chamber. The floor under Ginny suddenly opened with a groan of stone and machinery, plunging her into a black abyss. Her remains, an untidy heap of broken humanity, slid out of sight with chilling efficiency, the opening swallowing her as if she were merely discarded waste.
A faint, hollow thump resonated from below a moment later, confirming her arrival at the bottom. It was followed by a low whoosh as a burst of orange and red fire belched upward—a grim indication of the inferno consuming whatever was dropped below. A brief, nauseating scent of incinerated flesh and burning brimstone filled the space, accompanied by a faint, horrifying crackle.
Then with another soft click the trapdoor snapped shut. The seamless stone reset itself as if nothing had ever disturbed its pristine surface. Harry visibly relaxed, brushing non-existent dust from his robes. "Ah, well, there you have it," he announced, a relieved smile spreading across his face. "The room simply takes care of everything, doesn't it?" He clapped his hands, turning breezily towards Ron. Ginny's harrowing end was already a distant, inconvenient memory. "Right, Ron, your turn to demonstrate!"
