Given how much it shows up in the story, I feel that it fulfills Chekhov's Gun, just not in the typical way you use a guillotine. It was more of the threat and fantasy of it, more than looping off heads. There is also when she is put onto it and that it used as a fucking platform for her mother (the skull-fucking scene).

Now, I do have another guillotine story (Fallbeil) and maybe one coming up (Museum Pieces). In those stories, they are used properly. :)

I'm sorry I was a terrible tease, though. I'll do better next time.
