Which brings us right to the interesting question of "what exactly happened to the *previous* lord of thieves". ( My guess: hard to detect poison ;) )

And that again leads us to our thief girls biggest mistake. She took the ring, but didn't kill his current owner. Had she done that, she'd now be queen.
