Stumbling onto a Yaga playthough on Youtube put me into a mood for fairy tales, so I decided to translate this one into English. I started with "In a certain kingdom, in a certain land…" and it felt like a start of a poem and felt weird when the sentence didn't end with a rhyme. So I tried to put some effort to actually make it into a poem. On one hand, it wasn't even one in Russian… on the other hand I already tried writing songs in Japanese, so I can surely handle some English, right? Well, after a day of work, here are 20 lines. Will probably not make all of the story into a poem. It's big.
Further down the line the story has eating shit and drinking urine and just a bit of snuff, but since it's a fairy tale it's mostly just mentioned rather than described in detail (still somehow ended up rather long). Anyway so far only some casual nudity, so read safely.
Suitor Test (work in progress)
In a certain kingdom happened such a joy:
The King has had twin children: one girl, the other boy.
Can’t tell apart when clothed, and that’s why their dad
Had ordered them to always only go unclad.
Naked they did cuddle in their royal bed,
Naked in their study all the books they read,
Naked in the fields they trained to fight a war,
Even to the routes they came just as they were.
And whenever they had any time to spare
The children loved to revel in the open air,
Evernaked bodies knowing no dress
Nurtured by the nature to a great success.
Breeze of lively freshness caressed them in Spring,
Gentle warmth of sunlight did the Summer bring,
Playful were the rainfalls during Autumn’s length,
And the frost of Winter gave them health and strength.
Elements has raised these children very nice,
And whoever saw them with their own eyes
Couldn’t but agree that it was very wise
Letting them grow naked under open skies.
